When I had to choose a company to serve as a CNC machining services vendor, there were several factors that I had to take into account when comparing potential precision machining partners.

The first thing I looked at was the speed with which they could turn around the metal and plastic parts that were ordered. Depending on the materials, some die casting companies could have parts returned in as little as a day, whereas other turnaround times were significantly longer. That was a factor that had to be taken into consideration.

Additionally, I had to examine the milling process utilized by each potential vendor. For instance, a three-axis approach allows maximum flexibility to machine as many sides and areas of the part as possible, so that is clearly preferable to a less advantageous process.

Lastly, as with anything, I had to look at the overall quality of the cnc machining parts that were returned, and balance that out with the prices that were charged in order to determine which plastic mold manufacturer would, overall, provide my company with the best value when it came to the machining service that we were looking for, and where we would ultimately be best served.
